El efecto del sexo de los líderes políticos y de la afinidad de género en las elecciones autonómicas

En las últimas décadas, un número creciente de estudios han abordado el impacto del liderazgo político sobre el comportamiento electoral en los sistemas parlamentarios, destacando su papel como factor determinante de la decisión de voto. Sin embargo, el interés académico por el liderazgo femenino y sus efectos ha sido limitado, en parte debido al escaso número de mujeres candidatas a la presidencia de los ejecutivos nacionales. Del mismo modo, son escasos los estudios comparados que han explorado el efecto de la afinidad de género, es decir, si las mujeres tienen mayor predisposición a votar a partidos liderados por mujeres que los hombres, controlando otros condicionantes del voto. En este contexto, este trabajo analiza el efecto del sexo de los/as líderes políticos/as y de la afinidad de género en las elecciones autonómicas celebradas en España entre el año 2022 y 2024. Estas suponen un marco de estudio propicio para desarrollar esta línea de investigación, tanto por la similitud de sus características institucionales como por la diversidad de situaciones políticas que integran. Con esta finalidad, se han utilizado los estudios preelectorales del Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas, completando la información con las características de los/as líderes, de los partidos y del contexto político. A partir de estrategias de análisis cuantitativas, los resultados muestran que las líderes son mejor valoradas por el electorado que los líderes de partido. Esta mejor valoración de las líderes es también más pronunciada entre las mujeres que entre los hombres. Por el contrario, ni el sexo de los/as líderes ni la afinidad de género ejercen un efecto significativo sobre la decisión de voto en las convocatorias autonómicas analizadas.
