Abstract

This article starts from the growing recognition of nature’s rights, emphasizing their proliferation in regulations and judicial decisions, and adopts a socio-legal perspective of analysis. The first section provides an overview of the nuances that this recognition has acquired, with an emphasis on the Latin American experience. It focuses on the interaction of various processes in the region, which go beyond legal recognitions and are enriched through reinterpretations of existing law and judicial interpretive openings. The second section identifies theoretical, practical and institutional work agendas for the juridical field. The third section focuses on the critical role of legal education in deepening these debates. It highlights that the understanding of nature’s rights, their content, and scope also depends on what is taught in classrooms.
