Abstract

This study deals with the regulation of working days and official holidays under Spanish Law, particularly the way to set them up, examining both its evolution throughout history and the current national and regional legislation. Starting from the Roman Law, the source of the rules still in force, the study covers the incidence of public holidays in the calculation of time-limits before courts and administrative bodies, the competence and procedure to establish the holiday schedule and in particular the impact of the creation of the Spanish autonomous communities on the calendar.
