Abstract

Conflicts of interest in the public sector have been subject to regulation in
France, as in other countries and organisations in its sphere of influence. This regulation has intensified in recent years in light of various political scandals that have
had a negative impact on public opinion and required a reaction from the legislator.
This paper therefore studies the main elements present in the rule specifically dealing
with conflicts of interest in France and their relationship with the other rules that
also regulate this subject —the role of its supervisory authority, the work regime of
public employees and political representatives, reporting obligations, etc.—. The aim
is to present a sufficient overview of a country with which we share so many cultural,
political and social ties on the occasion of the regulatory commitments of Open Government assumed by Spain.
