Abstract

The purpose of this work is to address the development of the notion of vulnerability from its antecedents in the natural sciences to its emergence in legal studies, especially in the field of human rights. Likewise, this work systematizes the current development of the notion of vulnerability and groups in vulnerable situations in the legal sciences, reviewing their characteristics, elements, and typologies in the field of academic literature specialized in Ibero-America and, from the standpoint of work development, that the notion of vulnerability is intrinsically related to the effective fulfillment of the principle and right of legal equality recognized in international human rights law.
