Post-war Europeanism(s): The British option for intergovernmental cooperation

Europeanism or Europeanisms is not a false dilemma. The traditional narrative of a process of European integration designed by Monnet and developed by the Communities is definitely questioned. There are and were other alternatives which may not be labeled as Euroscepticism. The intergovernmental cooperation defended by Great Britain had and has more way to go than the one that has been wanted to recognize but it failed to lead the integration process for several reasons, in which, by the way, it never believed. The Occidental Union, sponsored by the Labour, and the Council of Europe, inspired by Churchill, both deserve a historical review which this work modestly wants to contribute to.
