Abstract
The Arguelles Banal Agustín Arguelles biography is also the first Spanish liberalism biography. He embodied as nobody the vir-tues and the faults of an almost unknown men who became the main characters in one of the most testing situations of Spanish history. His hectic life full of success and failure, isolation and pu-blic recognition is nearly the history of the Spanish liberal revolu-tion, a period characterized by historical achievements and violent attempts to go backwards. By the time of his death, Arguelles, «the divine», was regarded as one of the myths of the Spanish fight for the freedom. The present article studies his life and his legend.Downloads
