Abstract

Going from «Maurismo» to monarchical Tradicionalism, the po-litical and ideological evolution of Antonio Goicoechea y Coscu-lluela (1876-1953) witnesses the profound transformation of Spa-nish conservatism from 1898 to the outbreak of the Civil War. It represents, too, the bond between Spain's two major contempo-rary crises: that of national identity in 1898, and that of sociopo-litical structure in 1917-1931.
