In the last few decades, Portuguese historiography has expe-rienced a slow return of political history, as well as a growing inte-rest in Portugalés modern age, especially in the 20th Century. This text attempts to show this process to readers unfamiliar with the last two hundred years of Portuguese historical evolution by sum-marizing the most important works and lines of inquiry in the field.
