Abstract

The Editora Nacional, owned by the State, was a cultural project that endured until the end of Francos régime. Nevertheless, the article is cen-tred on in its first years of existence, that were contemporaneous of the Second World War. The work analyzes the functioning and the characte-ristics of the Publisher, its editorial course and its ideological aims. A small but active falangist élite guided the publishing house and tried to turn it into a reference point within the educated culture, even by forcé. However, it did not manage to overeóme the resistance of the people who had been defeated in the Civil War, the reluctance of other groups of power and the inertias of the country.
