Abstract

Opposite to the most widespread idea of primacy of the political disorder, anarchy and disability of the republican left wing governments in the spring of 1936, this text emphasizes the influence of the State in the social Spanish life of the period by means of the use of its despotic power, centred especially on the police control. In the text the principal characteristics of the spring mobilizations, both pacific and violent, are described. One concludes that none of them had a revolutionary character.
