Beyond the danger of ideals: Aristotle and Machiavelli in the thought of Rafael del Águila

This article is a reflection on the proposals that Rafael del Águila put forward in his last book. It tracks the influence that classical thinkers, such as Socrates, Aristotle and Machiavelli may have had on his ideas. Then it questions some of the basic recommendations that the author makes on the final pages of El peligro de los ideales. Concepts such as libertas, virtu and phrónesis constitute the core of the following pages.Downloads
