Abstract

In 1953 a group of young economists, led by Juan Velarde Fuertes, took control of the economy section of the Falangist newspaper Arriba. From the pages of this newspaper, and from other media in the Movimiento´s environment, they launched a campaign for a new economic model, which they referred to the thinking of José Antonio Primo de Rivera, and defended the land reform, the fight against trust, government intervention in the economy and income redistribution through progressive tax reform. This program gave an economic content to the Falange offensive in the fifties to control the state apparatus.
