Abstract

This paper addresses a necessarily incomplete history of the historiography of the Great War, from the historiographical renewal in the mid-seventies to the present day of the centenary. It notes the existence, with many shades, from a series of interpretive and debatable paradigms in understanding the war of 1914. And it analyzes, from the current vision of the conflict as the parturition of a violent contemporary European era, the present and future research prospectives on a little-studied-from-Spain conflict whose historical and historiographical effects and paradigms have, instead, a huge importance in our country.
