Abstract

In the following paper, we compare and study the reciprocal images from Portugal and Spain, which appeared in two publications, the Spanish Revista de Estudios Políticos (REP) and the Portuguese Revista Estudos (RE), since 1941 until 1950. Both publications are academic, following a nationalist and catholic approach and close to the franquista andsalazarista regimes. During this period, both journals recognized this peninsular sisterhood, expression of the catholic identity, raison d'être of each State. However, the intensity of this sisterhood presence will depend on coetaneous variations of foreign policy in each country. Therefore, only briefly and exceptionally this sisterhood will match, showing the wrongly historicist vision of this sisterhood that both publications proclaim safeguard.
