Abstract

Attempting to make a contribution to a hardly explored field of study, this paper considers two closely related issues. On the one hand, the study of the influence of Eugenio d’Ors among Argentine intellectuals in the early decades of the twentieth century. In the context of the first years of postwar Europe, the Russian Revolution and the university reformist process in Argentina, it analyzes the experience of Colegio Novecentista, the productions of its members and networks of sociability established between them as part of the reformism and anti-positivist movement. On the other hand, it studies the visit of Eugenio d’Ors to Argentina and Uruguay that took place during the second half of 1921. Within this framework, it tries to examine how Argentine intellectuals fields were articulated in relation to the proposals of the Catalan thinker during his classes, lectures and public conferences. In the intertwining of the two subjects this text intends to articulate a comparative approach to some responses held to face the «crisis of conscience» after the Great War in Argentina and Spain, characterized by the conjunction of the criticisms of liberalism and positivism, vitalism and youthism.
