About the Journal

Focus and Scope

This journal is dedicated to politics in history: the ideas, movements, processes and protagonists. It emphasizes interpretative renewal, comparative analysis and the complementary use of social sciences. This interdisciplinary territory, together with the dialogue between contemporary political debate and the analysis of the past, confers the uniqueness of History and Politics within Spanish-speaking historiography. Each edition consists of a monographic section coordinated by a specialist, a selection of research articles, plus a ‘state-of-the-art’ section and reviews of books. History and Politics has a distinguished reputation for quality and is a highly regarded publication in academic circles.

Peer Review Process

History and Politics acknowledges the receipt of all original articles submitted to the RECYT platform and informs the corresponding author of the outcome of the evaluation process.
The Editorial Board will decide on the publication of articles on the basis of two double-blind peer review reports provided by specialists from outside the editorial organization of the journal. The journal undertakes to complete the evaluation process within a maximum period of six months. If, for exceptional reasons, it is impossible to meet this deadline, the editors will contact the authors.
The Editorial Board approves the publication of those articles receiving the best peer reviews. Publication may be contingent on the introduction of changes recommended by the evaluations. The authors of articles accepted for publication may be requested to correct article proofs, which should be returned within 48 hours. At this stage substantial changes in the text will not be allowed, only the correction of errors in the accepted version.
