This article looks into the literary work of José Zorrilla from a political viewpoint. In his poems and plays, Zorrilla speaks of a Spanish identity based on religion and history. His fame and the widespread popularity of his works meant that his conception of Spain and the Spaniards reached a broad audience.Downloads
