Abstract

This article applies a analyses the sentences of the “Tribunal de Vagos y Maleantes” of Bilbao, of persons convicted of homosexuality from 1954 to 1970. On the basis of this analysis, it was possible to draw up the socio-economic profile of the convicted persons, verifying that the Franco justice against homosexuality was a class justice. The documents of the judicial records are also examined in order to gain a thorough understanding of the various aspects of repression (religious, psychiatric…) and thus to have a more complete knowledge of the reality of the repression of homosexuality in the final part of the dictatorship.
