Abstract

Public space in our cities has been taken over, facto in favour of the private car, which is not to say in favour of any privileged minority of citizens for now-a-days most have access to this means of transport. Not only do they do so but do so in a singularly abusive way whose harmful results as to the degradation of our daily life are everywhere to be seen and lamented. The paper faces up to the contradiction inherant in seeking answers to the problem in question through a worsening of this process of expropiation of public space that caused them in the first place.
