Abstract

The spread of second homes in Spain has been one of the most important territorial phenomenon of the two last decades. It has also been the main factor in the transformation undergone by some rural areas. The region of Castilla-La Mancha, because of its out-lying character as to the dynamic zones of yhese developing times, has little protagonism in the production of land fo r residential or tourist uses. Nevertheless, a study of it can show u some interesting point such as the role played by the second homes in the processes of spatial specialization and that differentiation relative to different consumers and different patterns. The theory by wich residential and turistical use of land proceeds not from the consumers preferences, but from that economical efficacy that becomes the real organizer of the territory, is also of interest.
