¿La venganza de los lugares que no importan? El caso de la Unión del Pueblo Leonés

Resumen

Este estudio analiza el auge electoral de la Unión del Pueblo Leonés (UPL) desde la perspectiva de la geografía del descontento y los lugares que no importan. Utilizando modelos de regresión lineal múltiple, se examinan el crecimiento del voto en el periodo 2011-2022 y el porcentaje obtenido en las elecciones autonómicas de 2022, tomando como unidad los 211 municipios de la provincia de León. También se exploran los determinantes individuales del voto, abordando si este fenómeno se explica mejor por características territoriales o individuales. Los resultados subrayan la relevancia de factores territoriales, como el declive económico y demográfico, reflejado en la pérdida poblacional, masculinización y disminución de empresas, en el crecimiento del voto a la UPL. Este trabajo contribuye a entender el auge de opciones políticas alternativas en territorios en declive, destacando la importancia de dinámicas territoriales.
