¿Madrid global o castizo? Neoliberalismo y nacionalismo en el discurso de VOX y PP hacia la inmigración de origen latino

Resumen

La relación entre los partidos de la derecha radical populista y el neoliberalismo sigue siendo objeto de debate académico. Mientras que amplios sectores de la literatura en Europa sostienen que el neoliberalismo ha perdido protagonismo dentro de esta familia ideológica, existen ejemplos contemporáneos que muestran una convivencia entre neoliberalismo y nacionalismo no exenta de contradicciones. Este artículo examina dicha convivencia contradictoria en el discurso electoral hacia la inmigración latinoamericana de dos partidos de derecha en España: VOX y el Partido Popular (PP). Centrándonos en el caso de la ciudad y la región de Madrid, analizamos 21 intervenciones electorales y 3 debates televisivos mediante una aproximación teórico-cualitativa. Los resultados muestran que, en su pugna con el PP, VOX se ve obligado a conciliar la imagen de Madrid como una ciudad/región abierta y global con su propia defensa de una identidad nacional excluyente. En este marco, VOX intenta integrar selectivamente a los inmigrantes latinos dentro de una narrativa nacionalista restrictiva, mientras que el PP adopta un nacionalismo madrileño más incluyente que enfatiza retóricamente la inclusión del diferente. Ambos partidos recurren también a un marco discursivo neoliberal, aunque con diferencias clave: el PP lo hace desde una lógica globalista y acogedora del diferente, mientras que VOX plantea una ambigua alianza iberoamericana en contra del socialismo que, priorizando en última instancia a los españoles, evidencia contradicciones en su relato.
