¿Está cambiando de rumbo la gran estrategia británica?

Este artículo analiza la evolución de las políticas británicas del Brexit desde la perspectiva de la gran estrategia. En primer lugar, se examina el significado de este concepto y los principales debates académicos al respecto. A continuación, se revisa la evolución de la gran estrategia británica y las diferentes interpretaciones de la visión Global Britain. Sobre este marco, se desarrolla una metodología basada en tres requisitos clave de la gran estrategia: coherencia, consecución de objetivos y cohesión interna. Estas variables sustentan el argumento central, que señala cómo el Global Britain y las políticas del Brexit han dificultado la formulación de una visión estratégica que desarrolle una verdadera política de Estado. No obstante lo anterior, los últimos eventos apuntan hacia una fase renovada de relaciones con Europa. Este cambio parece más alineado con la realidad social, especialmente con las generaciones jóvenes, lo que sugiere una transformación del electorado británico en favor de una orientación más cercana a Europa. Además, el giro político tras las recientes elecciones brinda al nuevo gobierno una oportunidad única para interpretar estratégicamente estas dinámicas sociales y redefinir la posición del Reino Unido en un contexto global en transformación.
