Resumen

El autor construye sus fundamentos para la reforma de la enseñanza sobre una idea de la enseñanza que enfatiza la comprensión y el razonamiento, la transformación y la reflexión. Este énfasis está justificado porque la investigación y las políticas educativas han solido ignorar esta dimensión ¿Cuáles son las fuentes del conocimiento base para la docencia?, ¿en qué términos pueden estas fuentes ser conceptualizadas?, ¿cuáles son los procesos didácticos de acción y razonamiento? y ¿cuáles son sus implicaciones para las políticas de formación del profesorado y de reforma? Las respuestas –informadas por un cúmulo creciente de estudios sobre profesores jóvenes y con experiencia, así como por la filosofía y la psicología– van más allá de los supuestos e iniciativas de las reformas actuales. El resultado para los educadores prácticos, académicos y políticos debe ser una mayor reorientación sobre cómo la enseñanza debe ser comprendida y los profesores deban ser formados y evaluados.

Biografía del autor/a

Lee S. Shulman, Stanford University

Shulman is a professor emeritus at Stanford Graduate School of Education,  past president of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching  past president of the American Educational Research Association, and the recipient of several awards recognizing his educational research. From 1963 to 1982, Shulman was a faculty member at Michigan State University,  where he founded and co-directed the Institute for Research on Teaching (IRT).
