Abstract

Amongst Aristotle’s foundations of political science, methodology stands out for its particular relevance. One of his methodological considerations can be found in a brief passage at the beginning of Politics’ book VI. Political science is presented as a practical science dominated by a theoretical tension. Our analysis focus on this constitutive tension and goes further on the four main statemens of the fragment. These statements resume the political knowledge until Aristotle contributions and anticipate the realistic-descriptive orientations of modern political thinking. This fragment shows a stunning insight on the political science field and an analitical ability that perdures over the centuries.
