Abstract

double discourse has existed in Vox since its foundation. On the one hand, the party has enhanced its unique character, both in terms of the circumstances that justify its existence and to its idiosyncrasy and political aims. On the other hand, its identification with other radical right parties, both in the interpretation of the problems denounced and the solutions offered, has increasingly gained strength. Grounded on this perspective, the party has developed a broad policy of contacts and alliances with other parties. This article will address the influences exerted by other radical right formations on the process of ideological definition of Vox party. It will also be argued that, once consolidated in the Spanish political scene, Vox has focused its policy of contacts on the formations with which it has a higher level of coincidence in ideas considered central by the party, abandoning a previously less selective approach in this regard. The most intense international references of Vox will be studied individually, to a large extent ordered by their growing relevance in this regard. These contacts and alliances imply in any case a merely reactive collaboration, focused on enabling each country to put its strict national interest first in all matters.
