Abstract

This article analyzes the process of partisan adaptation of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People’s Army, FARC-EP, based on Angelo Panebianco’s conception of the original model, where three elements are analyzed such as territorial implementation and development, the support of some external institution and the presence or absence of charismatic leadership. It aims to answer the question of what was the direct influence that the different elements present at the time of founding of the FARC-EP guerrilla had on the subsequent creation of the new political party FARC —currently Partido Comunes— after the partisan adaptation of the guerrilla organization in party. Methodologically, a documentary analysis is carried out from a theoretical perspective of the concept of the model originating from Panebianco, collecting the three identified factors. It is concluded that the FARC-EP, like any other organization, is a prisoner of its past and its birth had a direct influence on its subsequent creation as a party organization after the approval of the Havana Peace Accords in 2016.
