Abstract

The purpose of this study is focused on making a legal review of the current situation of nuclear energy in Spain, as well as open discussion after the decision of the Garoña and the accident of Fukushima. The immediate future of nuclear energy can not pass through the decommissioning of nuclear plants in operation, because of its high contribution to the energy mix, but to increasing the safety of nuclear installations in operation to ensure their current operation and prolongation of service life over 40 years, term for which they were designed.
