Abstract

This contribution analyses the impact of gender on rurality, and rurality on gender, in the framework of our Social and Democratic Rule of Law. In order to achieve this aim, the supposed neutrality of law and of the axiological categories on which the Social State rests is examined, particularly in rural areas where the lack of public services, especially those dedicated to caring, have an impact on gender. The analysis is preceded by a propositive part which advocates a paradigm shift in multilevel governance, based on a municipalist and feminist model, in order to face the challenges of the Social State in rural areas of Spain.
