Abstract

This study presents the monthly evolution of public employment in Spain between the years 2014 and 2019. In an expansive economic framework, accompanied by an increase of the public sector, employment in the administration, annually, reaches its highest peak in December, and its biggest adjustment in September. This time pattern differs from the pattern observed in the private sector, and it is not homogeneous; it varies by gender, depends on the type of activity, and it differs in each public administration. In the present work, we analyse together the monthly average of daily affiliation to the Social Security and the quarterly series of the Labour Force Survey.
