A country without migrants? Authority and internal migrations in the Aftermath of the Spanish Civil War

Abstract

Internal migrations in spain have received outstanding attention from historiography, with the exception of those that took place during the post-war period. This article aims to provide knowledge about this period through an analysis perspective that will integrate and contextualize the existing relationships between internal migrations and the political, economic and social conditions present in it. in particular, the repressive mechanisms implemented against the free mobility of people during these years and the strategies developed by migrants to confront these repressive mechanisms will be analyzed.

Author Biography

Miguel Diaz Sánchez , Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona

PhD in Comparative, Political and Social History from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (2020). He has been predoctoral researcher Fi-DGR of the Generalitat de Catalunya (2016-2020) and postdoctoral researcher Margarita Salas of the Ministry of Universities (2022). He has done research stays at the School of Humanities of the National University of San Martín (Argentina) (2017) and at the University of Alicante (2022). He is a member of the Centre d'Estudis sobre Dictadures i Democràcies (UAB) since 2016 and of the research group España Contemporánea (University of Alicante) since 2022. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher APOsTD of the Generalitat Valenciana at the University Institute of Gender Studies research at the University of Alicante. He is currently developing a research project that reflects on a possible categorization of emigration as an act of resistance for the case of the Spanish postwar period.
