Abstract

There are few issues more relevant in the history of Spain than that of the entailed estate; few issues less known, and less worked on by historiography. It is curious, to say the least, that we suffer from so many gaps in our knowledge on such an important issue, a historical problem of the greatest dimension.

Author Biography

Enrique Soria Mesa, Universidad de Córdoba

Professor of Modern History at the University of Córdoba, he has directed twenty doctoral theses and has been responsible for eight national research projects. A specialist in nobility, elites, Jewish converts, Moors and genealogy, he is the author of more than 170 publications, including numerous books as sole author and coordinator. Among them, the most recent are: La realidad tras el espejo. Ascenso social y limpieza de sangre en la España de Felipe II (2016), La ciudad y sus legados históricos (4) Córdoba judía, Córdoba, 2019, and En los orígenes de la Universidad de Córdoba.
