Abstract

The paper offers for consideration the findings of a questionaire mailed to almost 300 Spanish Town Councils of more than 200,000 inhabitants to ascertain the level of access and acceptance of the digital treatment of computer supported Town and Country planning, the administrative methods proper to this and follow-up drills. The findings drawn upon 54% of the targetted group indicate that while actual adoption of computerized planning techniques is still very much in its infancy, there does however exist not only great interest in the idea but an eager need to access such programmes and tools in order to make much of the possibilities that GIS is felt to offer. It would seem that the time is ripe for satisfying such great expectations.
