Housing policy: its theory and practice in Andalusia in the new (political) circumstances

Abstract

The paper gives an overview of the results thrown up by a decade's worth of varying alternative (participative) housing programmes in the Andalusian Region. It also essays some considerations as to the principles on which this policy was grounded and likewise as to its outcome, it being the author's opinion that these principles had much to do with an ecological understanding of the urban fact and the putting into social practice of solutions for a need for shelter. The results that have been obtained are felt to show a high degree of efficiency and it is urged that they might well serve to help bring in different points of view to those inherent within the models at present most used, these having a tendency to be over interested in the economical and drawbacks, whereas those here offered, it is felt, would promote schemes offering more integrating answers.
