Abstract

From approx. 1940 onwards, an unstoppable immigration flow from rural districts into the city of Lima (Perú) has been observed. As the phenomenon is a matter that is relevant to other urban centres in the Americas, the paper offers some of the projects in practice carried through in the Villa El Salvador district of Lima as methodological initiatives for correcting the regional. economic and social repercussions of rural immigration. Further, the paper sees the findings culled from these projects as allowing for a series of considerations as to alternate ways of planning for Latin America.
