Abstract

Lusan's inadequacies as an urban unit and its necessary adaption to the needs of its Basilica-based pilgrim tourism led to the putting into practice of a plan for the bettering of its living conditions. Using a specified focus and work plan incorporating experimental trials runs for its projected solutions along with a high degree of public participation, an overall plan was drawn up which included schemes as to tourism, transport, access to the city and an intervention as to the river. These initiatives, while creating better conditions for the development of tourism at the same time reconcile this to the every-day life of the town.
