The paper aims to offer a measuring and analysis of economic contrast as between the districts of the
Autonomic Region of Andalusia for the period 1970-2003. There being no data estimates for either production
or income, a proxy or jury estimate of family cell available income has been essayed on the basis of market
quotas, this indicator being drawn from BANESTO year books for the Spanish market and e Caixa commercial
and economic year books. On the data from these obtained, the inter-regional distribution of the proxy
variable designed
Has been studied and the contrasts as between districts calculated in terms of sigma and beta convergence.
Attention has also been given to convergence clubs. From the analysis thus made it would appear that the
period studied demonstrates a sigma beta convergence even though and understanding of the phenomenon
calls for some previous qualifying given that this clusters in the period 1986-2003. Furthermore, the
determining factors for any explanation of velocity contrasts in the phenomenon in territorial terms must
include a non-uniform distribution of the factors of production, differing productive structures as between
provinces, a disparity in the production of these factors as such and varying levels of economic space creation.
