The neighbourhood of La Txantrea, located at Pamplona´s northeast area, is based upon a social housing development taking place along the second half of the 20th century. Its main purpose was to accommodate the mass migrations originated from the Spanish Civil War. Given its age and building resources, it is far from today’s efficiency and comfort standards. Aware of the developmental offset, the Efidistrict Fwd. project is proposed in 2013. Its scope ranges from the renewal of building envelopes to upgraded district heating networks with a new biomass heating plant in sight. The development of the project begins with its first phase taking place between 2014 and 2017. The project is run by the cooperation between Pamplona’s Town Hall and Navarre’s Government with the support from the 2013 Assessment Reports on Buildings in Navarra.
