Abstract

The paper begins by remarking the lateness at which homes are now set up to the end of discovering in the continuing rise in the cost of housing plays a relevant part in this phenomenon. The paper then considers the demand for housing by type, the rigidity pervading in the supply of same at all levels along with the effect on living space as such of prices in terms of the distribution of housing by territory as within the Barcelona Metropolitan Area. From the afore-mentioned break down and study, the author draws the conclusion that the rise house prices in itself is not a determining factor in the falling off of new households but rather a factor determining an overall metropolitan urban shift in dwelling places.
