Abstract

The paper sees »The Recommendations of the Select Committee on Town and Country Planning» as being but the expression of a strategvV aimed at carrying the concepts behind present planning legislation through to their ultimate consequences, this in an unshakeable belief in the capacity for initiative of Local Government. which bodies, in the author's opinion, are neither fit to be a framework within which a goodly number of other private and public agencies might well lend their competencies to such tasks nor yet represent that in which a cutting back upon those failings which mark the land market could be accomplished to the end of possibly bringing city building ground prices to heel.
