Abstract

The paper begins by establishing the problematic urban context within which led to the setting up of the Select Committee on Town and Country Planning and then the purpose of the same. It then goes into the content of the of the Committee's recommendations making here much of that proposing changes in planning documents, drawing here attention to the actual problems to elaborating agreed to programme covering a series of years due to a lack of technical experience and training in making these along with such as are born of a certain over-lapping of activities during their creation.The paper also observes the lack of a greater awareness as to the city's economic and social problems that lie behind the drive for further growth, here abounding upon the actual tendencies towards a great segregation and polarizing as within the city's scope.
