The problem of housing: a problem common to all the latin americas

Abstract

The paper forms part of the first chapter of the author's recent book "CONTRA EL HAMBRE DE VIVIENDA/AGAINST THE HOUSING HUNGER. Latin American Technological Solutions" published by Escala of Columbia which gives a disheartening vision of how little the housing panorama in that subcontinent has improved despite the many "economic miracles" for seen for it last year. The overall impression is pessimistic, as well it must be, given the still increasing short fall -the hunger for housing- that grows despite all that the homeless have tried to do. The author here maintains that despite noteworthy differences as between countries, regions or simply cities and their outskirts, the problem has more to it that is common than especific. the which has led him to consider it here as a shared phenomenon.
