Abstract

We have tried to show a global perspective of the models of urban intervention applied to the european cities. The happened structural changes and the internationalization of economy gave preeminence to strategic planning. but -in most cases- this model found a broad level of reject, sometimes because of its difficult applicability, others because of its reiterative character which cancels out the possible differenciated advantages, and most times because of an existing inadecuation between the city and the corporations. The principles and objectives of urban marketing. and the modelling of the great actions of urban renewal and develpment are object of sistematization and valorization. But in all these cases there is detected the need of complementing the economicist actions with others of social nature, because the fniciated operations -and the very economic system- are increasing the social disparities in the city.
