Abstract

The paper begins by considering the evolutions that Arturo Soria's original 1894 project underwent and to what degree his initial idea was kept to if it was so and, were this not the case, in what measure could his followers be said to have altered this. It then considers the proposals that one of his principle disciples -Hilarión González del Castillo- grafted on to the original. In so doing, the paper at the same time considers the influence that British, Belgian and North American town planning expertise had upon the Ciudad Lineal Project as such during the years 1904 through to 1919.
