Abstract

In recent years it had become increasingly understood that current and future problems caused by traffic at peak hours cannot be solved with new programmes of construction of infrastructure alone. There is also a need for an applying of new management methods to improve the use of the existing movement ofpeople means. In this article, the author reviews the methods employed to manage the demand for a better use of streets, roads and freeways in North America.
