Abstract

Taking the Barcelona Metropolitan Census as its point of reference, the paper makes as series of considerations as to the uses to which studies of this sort are put when applied to social life as such. It then goes on to highlight that series of changes in social structure, work modes, habits in economic activity and so forth that Barcelona has undergone over the five years here studied. The paper is rounded off by a description of some of the behavioural modes of the predominant groups in this, the capital of Catalonia's political and cultural life.
