Town and Country Planning Studies in Catalonia
Abstract
This set of three papers attempts a dlineation of the findings of the Curso de Estudios Territoriales }Urbanísticos (Town and Country Planning and Management Gurse) given for the first time at the Escola d'Administració Fiblica (School of Local Administration) of the Catalonian Autcnomous Community. An initial mention is made of the nature )f the «Urban Technologist» diploma and the traditionally decsive role of the Instituto de Estudios de Administración Local (Iistitute of Local Administration Studies) in nuturing advances in this fields is touched upon. There then follows a detailed sychetic laying out of an optimum final poject as to the siting cthe 92 Olympic Village for Barcelona. The choice of San Cugat Eel Vallés for this purpose is held to answer three basic requirments: a) all the basic conditions laid down by the Olympic Inernational Coomittee are covered; b) the project fits into the oveall thinking of Metropolitan planning and tones into existing unan reality and; e) it falls in with the peculiar conditions impose by being sited in a zone covered by a special historical conservtion order on account of that places marastry and its related ocskirts. The work finishes with a descripion of the impressions gathered from a week's study trip to lerlin, both teachers and students making this as part of the 750h anniversary celebrations of that city's founding.
