The Buen Retiro Gardens of Madrid: the Municipal Park period
Abstract
After the September Revolution of the year 1868, the ancient Royal Propriety of the Buen Retiro was turned into a Public Park. Inmediately, many trees were planted, the old Zoo was enlarged, a new Carriage Drive was made as were several building (such as the Velázquez Palace, the Cristal Palace, etc.) and also beautiful new railings. The new Park became the favorite place of the people of Madrid who enjoyed there many entertainments and exhibitions, and made the most of its Cafés, restaurants, etc. In the Twentieth Century, the Rosegarden was set out and many sculptures placed in the wooded zones being the most important of these the Monument dedicated to the King Alfonso XII, situated on the cast side of the Great Pond.

With the aim of promoting the dissemination of knowledge, CyTET joins the Open Journal Access (OA) movement and delivers all of its content to various national and international indexes, repositories and databases under this protocol; therefore, the submission of a work to be published in the journal presupposes the explicit acceptance by the author of this distribution method.
Authors are encouraged to reproduce and host their work published in CyTET in institutional repositories, web pages, etc. with the intention of contributing to the improvement of the transfer of knowledge and the citation of said works.
