Abstract

Besides throwing light on those variables in the urban action formulae in force in Seville, a systematic study of the territorial divisions within that city council's area could be said to have a two-fold objective: The first, to establish a definition in terms of space and function through an analysis of its opposite, that is to say, through a minute examination of standing territorial division, be it seen in terms of basic units or districts or again in primary and elemental terms. The second objective would be to set out existing conditions of contract in the area —the present day disproportion in the ratio inhabitant— surface space of the territorial demarcation in force this and local planning reform as well as the first steps being taken towards the metropolitan organization of the Seville area, matters which, in our opinion, call for a rethinking of secular praxis as to urban negotiation and function considerations.
